PREREQUISITES
General eligibility and mathematical skills from a 3 year upper secondary school, course programme or similar.

COURSE AIM
To provide knowledge how market economies work regarding pricing and allocation of resources. Also, ability to apply economic theory on current issues. In addition, the course should provide ability to critically examine and analyze economic conditions and development trends.

CONTENTS
Discussion of economic theory to create an understanding of the role of pricing as an allocator of resources in a market economy. Actions of individual economic decision makers, households and companies, as well as their importance for markets are analyzed. Pricing and resource allocation under different market conditions. The market pricing is also looked at from a theoretical welfare perspective. There is also a focus on how well markets function.

TEACHING
Lectures and group work.

EXAMINATION
Examination is done through written tests.
