PREREQUISITES
Following courses passed (or similar): SMD021 Computer Networks, SMD097 System Programming, SMD005 Operating Systems, SMD011/SMD012/SMD038 Imperative Programming, SMD006/SMD103 Reactive Programming, SMD056 Program Construction (or SMD044 Imperativ programmering och programprojekt/SMD064 Software Engineering), SMD073 Data Structures, SMD066/SMD082 Processor/Software Interface and MAM053/MAM065 Discrete Mathematical Structures.

COURSE AIM
The goal of the project is to study current research issues and implement some of the suggested solutions in a prototype network. The long-term goal, over the years, is to develop a test network for supporting advanced communication applications.

CONTENTS
Some of the following issues can be considered: - efficient and differentiated packet switching - operating systems support - traffic shaping - service commitments - flow establishment and routing - service commitments - flow establishment and routing - multicasting - mobility Information Retreival BIB004 is a requirement for passing smd080. An opportunity for reading BIB004 is given during the project period.

TEACHING
Project groups, meetings with minutes, written timecards, a compulsory oral presentation and a written report.
