At least one of the courses Water treatment A: SBV009, Water treatment B: SBV010 or Water and Wastewater System Planning: SBV001.
COURSE AIM
Water supply and wastewater treatment will be dealt with in an international perspective with focus on Asia, Africa and South America.
CONTENTS
Water:
á water resources in the world
á water Scarcity - potential conflicts?
á possible water resources for drinking water och water distribution.
Wastewater and latrines:
á treatment (pond systems & latrine systems)
á reuse of excreta and wastewater (irrigation, aquacultures, reuse of excreta/latrine products)
Water and sanitation:
á hygiene
á gender perspectives on sanitary engineering
á implementation
á water and sanitation in refugee camps and war zones
TEACHING
The course includes lectures, seminars, project tasks and a laboratory work.
80 % attendance of the lectures and the seminars is demanded to pass the course.
