COURSE AIM
The course will give a deepened understanding in how to analyse traffic safety problems and suggest measures to reduce risk, and to give a better knowledge in traffic safety theory.
CONTENTS
Traffic accidents and traffic safety. Risk compensation. Basic probability models. How to estimate safety. Before- and after studies. A Bayesian approach. Different forecasting models are explored. Effects of different traffic safety measures.
TEACHING
The instruction consists of lectures, seminars and exercis. All of them are compulsory. Parts of suitable literature will be handed out for self-instruction.
EXAMINATION
To pass the course the student has to attend 80% of the lectures, seminars and exercises, to pass a written test and to pass oral and written accountings of project work.
