PREREQUISITES
Basic qualifications.

COURSE AIM
The course provides basic knowledge in general chemistry.The items discussed here are crucial for an understanding of many of future chemistry related courses. The course also gives some experience in basic laboratory work.

CONTENTS
Part one : structure of the atom and of molecules and their intra- and intermolecular forces. Part two.: stoichiometry, chemical equations, thermodynamics, chemical equilibria in homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Problem solving is of capital intrest. 

TEACHING
The instruction consists of lectures, lessons and 3 compulsory laboratory classes.

EXAMINATION
A written examination which is graded (part one and/or two), passed individual assignments (part two) and laboratory reports.
