TIMEPERIOD: Q I LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Mats Lindberg Univ lekt PREREQUISITES Basic qualifications COURSE AIM The course provides basic knowledge in chemistry which will facilitate the understanding of future, chemistry related courses. The course also gives some experience in basic laboratory work. CONTENTS Fundamental concepts Atomic structure and the periodic table Chemical bonding, inter- and intramolecular forces, molecular structure Basic thermodynamics Principles of chemical equilibria Organic chemistry - physical properties and fundamental reactions Biochemistry - important classes of compounds and some metabolic processes TEACHING The instruction consists of lectures and compulsory laboratory classes. EXAMINATION A written exam, which is graded. Passed laboratory reports. COURSE GRADE SCALE: U,3,4,5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
