KMK008 Aquatic Chemistry 6.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: Q II LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Rune Gärd 1 fo ing PREREQUISITES Basic course in General Chemistry i.e. KMK002, KMK004, KMK013 or KMK042. COURSE AIM The course provides knowledge in a variety of phenomena that occurs in natural water systems, specielly those phenomena that involves hydrolysis-, protolysis-, oxidation and reduction, solubility and komplex ion equilibria. CONTENTS Review of the chemical structure of water and his behaviour as solvent. Introduction in chemical kinetics. Mathematical and grafical study of equilibrium systems. Methods to solve equilibrium problems. Acid-base equilibria, the carbonate system, coordination chemistry, precipitation and dissolution, oxidation- reduction reactions, iron chemistry, chlorine chemistry. Applications i natural water systems. Environmental aspects. TEACHING The instruction consists of lectures and 3 compulsory laboratory classes. EXAMINATION A written examination which is graded, passed laboratory reports. COURSE GRADE SCALE: U,3,4,5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
