TIMEPERIOD: Q III LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Eva Molin Univ adj PREREQUISITES Basic qualifications. COURSE AIM The course provides basic knowledge in general and organic chemistry that will facilitate the understanding of many of future chemistry related items. CONTENTS Some fundamental concepts of chemistry, stoichiometrical calculations. The structure of the atom, chemical bonding and intermolecular forces. Thermodynamical concepts and calculations. Principles of chemical equilibrium, acid-base equilibria. Organic chemistry : organic compounds and structures, isomerism, functional groups and their reactions; carbohydrates. TEACHING The instruction consists of lectures, lessons and 3 compulsory laboratory classes. EXAMINATION A written examination which is graded, passed laboratory reports.
