TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER A Kinnander Prof PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of manufacturing engineering COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to provide a basic knowledge of integrated systems and techniques used in manufacturing industry. The course can be tailored for students with different backgrounds and interests via. the project component of the course. CONTENTS Computer systems in industry, information flow, data transfer standards (IGES, STEP), computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), development of CIM strategy, future trends... Course Structure Lectures 10% Group discusion 30% Individual project 60% TEACHING The course consists of a number of formal lectures along with group discussion of articles and other material relevant to the course. An individual project (of the students choice and by agreement) and self study is also expected. EXAMINATION Submission of a written report of the individual project.
