TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Richard Warren Prof PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of materials science COURSE AIM To provide an in-depth understanding of the relationships between production processes, microstructure and properties of metallic materials through a study of selected examples. CONTENTS A selection of the following groups of materials groups will be discussed with emphasis on microstructure and technically important properties such as creep, fatigue, oxidation and high temperature stability: Al-alloys Mg-alloys Ti-alloys Intermetallic compounds Superalloys Metal matrix composites TEACHING Lectures, exercises and laboratory work including homework and written texts during the course. Participation in the laboratory exercises is obligatory. EXAMINATION Written examination at the end of the course. COURSE GRADE SCALE: ITEMS/CREDITS | |
