TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Magnus Fredriksson Univ adj PREREQUISITES COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of the underlying concepts and insight into various computer based methods for geometric modelling and visual simulation of surfaces, objects, environments, and lighting in the development of product design. Basic skills in the use of modern computer systems for product development are gained through different exercises in ALIAS. CONTENTS Description of IRIX and ALIAS (10%). Structure, commands, and functions. Basic modelling (75%). Construction assignments. Characteristics of surfaces (5%). Colour, texture, pattern, transparency etc. Fundamentals of lighting arrangements and the building of environments and ÓstudiosÓ (5%). Rendering and handling of pictres (5%). Size of pictures, transportation, printing with different technics. TEACHING The teaching mainly consists of lectures and computer based construction assignments. Taking part in construction assignments is manadatory EXAMINATION Course grade scale: Fail, Pass.
