TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Jan Johansson Prof PREREQUISITES General eligibility for admission. COURSE AIM The course shall give basic knowledge of the development of organisational theory, modern organisational theory, and the integration of society, technology and organisation. It will also cover different gender aspects of working life. The course also includes a minor project to train the students to carry out a simplified form of organisational investigation. CONTENTS Introduction to organisational theory (20%). Classical organisational theories (scientific management, bureaucracies, human relations). Modern organisational theories (20%). Prevailing theory discussions within organisational theory (systems theory, sociotechnology, environmental aspects, corporate cultures, technology and organisations etc.) Developmental aspects and future perspectives (30%). Developmental phases of organisations, participation and control, new technology and organisation, white and blue collar work, men and women in working life. Project work (30%). Planning and implementation, introduction to methods, analysis and presentation of results. Implementation of a minor project. TEACHING The teaching consists of lectures devoted to theoretical considerations and certain practical exercises. The project work is carried out in smaller groups of students. EXAMINATION Written examination and approved project work. Correction of examination according to alternative A in ÒRegler för tentamenÓ. Course grades as above.
