TIMEPERIOD: LANGUAGE:English/Swedish EXAMINER Dennis Pettersson Prof PREREQUISITES Function and Form (ARG002), Strength of Materials (MTM017) COURSE AIM The aim of the course is to provide deeper knowledge within the area of product development through extended theory and applications within the field of development. CONTENTS Planning of projects (5%). Proposals for developmental projects are presented, choice of projects, project planning. Collecting of information (5%). Different ways of collecting information. Studies of product requirements and markets. Determination of problem (4%). Formulation of problem, determination of problem level, demarcation of problem. Problem investigation (12%). Analysis of processes, environment, and human, listing of functions, division of functions (functions analysis), weighting of criteria. Primary construction (22%). Building of product, development of different proposals for solutions, documentation, and presentation of principle solutions, selection of solution. Construction (34%). Design (modelling), dimensioning, selection of materials and components, drawing documentation. Documentation (18%). Presentation. Exposition of presentation material that shows results and written documentation that shows the content of the project. TEACHING Lectures, laboratory work, group work and individual work. Attendance at part and final presentations are mandatory. Produktdesignconsult AB, Luleå, is responsible for the lecturing. EXAMINATION Project work, documentation as well as presentation have to be approved in order to receive a final grade. COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, 3, 4, 5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
