TIMEPERIOD: QIII LANGUAGE:Swedish EXAMINER Per-Arne Lindqvist Prof PREREQUISITES General COURSE AIM The course gives an introduction to tunnelling and rock excavation for underground constructions and for the extraction of rock aggregates and minerals. CONTENTS Introduction: Different types of underground constructions. Ore and mineral extraction. Rock construction dictionary. Drifting: Drifting methods for tunnels, ramps, raises and shafts concerning resource requirements and working environment aspects. Extraction methods: Methods for mining of ores and minerals underground and in open pits. Quarries for aggregates production. Unit and auxiliary operations: Rock drilling methods, techniques and machines. Charging and ignition of explosives for rock blasting. Loading and transport methods with respesct to technique, economics and working environment. Technical descriptions and simple examples of dimensioning ventilation. Electrical power systems. Design example: Designing an underground construction (technical and economic). TEACHING Class room lectures and exercises. Project work. Mine visit if possible. EXAMINATION Presentation of practice exercises. Written exam with differentiated grades. COURSE GRADE SCALE: 3, 4, 5 ITEMS/CREDITS | |
