ABT017 Reliability and Maintenance I 6.0 ECTS credits | |
TIMEPERIOD: Q II, QIII LANGUAGE:English EXAMINER Uday Kumar Docent PREREQUISITES Basic statistics COURSE AIM Course provides the fundamental knowledge concerning theory and practice of maintenance engineering using condition monitoring, reliability and risk analysis techniques for systems and machines. CONTENTS Maintenance engineering (50%): Introduction, cost of downtime, basic tools for analysing Maintenance problems, maintenance strategies, condition based maintenance, total productive maintenance, reliability centered maintenance, LCC/LCP, total quality circle, expert systems, material administrations and inventory control, maintenance organisation, human factors etc. Reliability engineering (35%): Introduction and basic knowledge about reliability & maintainability characteristics of a system, reliability analysis of components and systems with analytical and graphical methods, bottleneck and risk analysis techniques for process and construction industries. Maintenance strategies for systems/machines (15%): Introduction and basic concepts concerning development of maintenance strategies for different branches (V, S & K). Automation and robotization: Introduction and industrial applications of automation and robotization potential and associated problems, navigation techniques, etc. Maintenance engineering: Introduction, costs of downtime, basic tools for analysing maintenance problems, maintenance strategies, condition based maintenance, total productive maintenance, reliability centered maintenance, LCC/LCP, total quality circle, expert systems, material administrations and inventory control, maintenance organisation, human factors etc. Reliability engineering: Introduction and basic knowledge about reliability & maintainability characteristics of a system, reliability analysis of components and systems with analytical and graphical methods, bottleneck and risk analysis techniques for process and constuction industries. Maintenance strategies for systems/machines: Introduction and basic concepts concerning development of maintenance strategies under varying conditions. TEACHING The teaching will essentially include classroom lectures, home work, computer laboratory and a small project work. EXAMINATION Written test with grades points/marks.
