Maintenance engineering: Introduction, costs of downtime, basic tools for analysing maintenance problems, maintenance strategies, condition based maintenance, total productive maintenance, reliability centered maintenance, LCC/LCP, total quality circle, expert systems, material administrations and inventory control, maintenance organisation, human factors etc.

Reliability engineering: Introduction and basic knowledge about reliability & maintainability characteristics of a system, reliability analysis of components and systems with analytical and graphical methods, bottleneck and risk analysis techniques for process and constuction industries.

Maintenance strategies for systems/machines: Introduction and basic concepts concerning development of maintenance strategies under varying conditions.

TEACHING
The teaching will essentially include classroom lectures, home work, computer laboratory and a small project work.

EXAMINATION
Written test with grades points/marks.
