COURSE AIM
The course gives an introduction to Computer Aids in the design press with respect to construction of simple design programs and CAD (Computer Aided Drawing) for buildings.

CONTENTS
Introduction: (10%) Introduction to the departments computers and computer network (PC-DOS, HP - UNIX). Introduction to Internet and World Wide Web.

Programming: (30%) Introduction to MATLAB. Scripts, functions and programming flow. MATLABs graphic capabilities and input output routines. Project work consists of making a program of the design of crane girders.
Computer Aided Drawing: (60%) The CAD part consists of four tutorials and a project work consisting of drawing the foundation plan and exterior of a storage building and the crane girders that have been design using the program in the programming part.

TEACHING
Lectures, computer labs and project works. All of the exercises are on World Wide Web (WWW).

EXAMINATION
The examination is based on approved programming and CAD exercises and approved project works.
Grades: Approved and not approved.
