PREREQUISITES
ABB004, (ABB009). Calculus, differential equations. Matrix algebra. Basic knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics, displacement method and energy principles.

COURSE AIM
To develop ability to formulate, analyze and solve structural dynamics problems numerically.
To give knowledge of background, possibilities and limitations of computer analysis methods.
To give exercises in practical usage of computer aided analysis in design work.

CONTENTS
Dynamic equilibrium, free and forced vibrations for single degree of freedom systems.
System analysis with FEM. Evaluation of natural frequencies and modes by orthogonalization, superposition and vector iteration. Assignments: MATLAB as well as the commercial FEM-code ANSYS will be used.

TEACHING
The teaching consists of lectures, exercises and assignments.
Assignments are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Written examination at the end of the course. Assignments.
