COURSE AIM
To give the student basic knowledge about and understanding of modern systems for transmission of information.

CONTENTS
The course focuses on digital systems with possibilities for integration of a broad set of services, e.g. telecommunication, mobile and earthbound communication nets, data transmission via radio media and radio link. - Applications: Point to multipoint, Twisted pair, digital mobile communication, RDS, EPOS, digital audio broadcast and digital TV (HDTV). - Transmission/radio media: Wave propagation, antennas, noise, diversity systems, access technologies (TDMA, CDMA), multicarrier systems (OFDM), spreadspectrum systems, RAKE- receivers. - Coding in radio communications system: channel coding, source coding of speech and audio.

TEACHING
Compulsary attendancy at the lectures and presentation of a group project.
