COURSE AIM
To give practical information about sampling in natural waters and interpretation of water quality data with simple statistical analysis.

CONTENTS
Sampling of sediment in natural water: Measurements of water quality parameters with a water quality sond. Sampling of sediment and the dissolved and suspended phase in natural waters. Evaluation of sampling artifacts and contamination of water samples. Environmental monitoring: Practical information about environmental monitoring programmes. Interpretation of water quality data, project work: Interpretation of water quality data from Swedish rivers. Analysis using the computer programme Data Desk. Basic regression analysis on water quality data.

TEACHING
Lectures and water sampling in nature.

EXAMINATION
Project work and participation in field work.
