PREREQUISITES
Basic chemistry.

COURSE AIM
The students will after the course be able to identify the most important rock- and ore forming minerals and know their chemical composition, physical properties and formation environments.

CONTENTS
Mineral or rock? Minerals and the evolution of inorganic chemistry. Crystallography, crystal shapes, hardnes, colour, density, cleavage and luster. Systematic mineralogy. Ore- and industrial minerals. Rock forming processes and the stability of minerals under varying P and T conditions.

TEACHING
Lectures will be given in Swedish.
