COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to: ¥ give in-depth knowledge about children«s development and learning with its emphasis on the age period 5-7, ¥ to simplify and stimulate to an increased co-operation between pre-school, school and day-centre for school-age children, ¥ to give a preparedness before the work with children in school age.

CONTENTS
ITEM 1. Children«s development - children«s thoughts - metacognition. Control documents and different vocational roles. Educational traditions, different view of knowledge and of learning. To work in a work group. ITEM 2. Ethics in the everyday of education. Childrens play and creative activity and significance for children«s development and learning. Children«s language development. Acquisition of reading skills, writing skills and mathematical skills. ITEM 3. Work with development.

TEACHING
The form of the teaching is lectures, discussions, seminars, practical work - individual and in group - and a work with development.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on their written and oral examination, individual and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
