COURSE AIM
The school of today encounters a strong internal and external demand of renewal and development. The aim of the course is to increase the ability of the school to self-renewal through a general perspective on school as a learning organization. The teachers« development of their qualifications through systematic and in-depth reflection over terms and experiences are placed in centre.

CONTENTS
ITEM 1. The Relation Community - School, Curriculum Theory Social changes and school. Curriculum Theory; what is a curriculum, the curriculums are put together after which principles? Curriculum as a control document. ITEM 2. The School as an Organization Intentions in curriculums and the organizational structure of the school. Elements in the structure of the school that act preventable and furtherance respectively, for work with changes and with development. What should be changed in the school as an organization for self-renewal? ITEM 3. Local Educational Work with Development The basis of Science of Theory: view of reality - view of man - cognitive approach - scientific approach - scientific methods. Development that is local based; teacher and pupil-directed work with changes. The relation action research - action learning. The teachers« learning; action and experience learning. Classroom research; concrete experience - observation, reflection and analysis - generalization and self-evaluation - new action.

TEACHING
The teaching should give support and structure to the students«acqusition of the course literature. The students should be active in the teaching. The form of the teaching is lectures, seminars and group practices. There will be an investigatory and a problem-based work in every course item and they should be carried out and reported in writing.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on their written and oral examination, individual and in group.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
