COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give students knowledge and skills that are needed to be able to work as a teacher in the compulsory comprehensive school. The students«experiences and knowledge should be protected in the course through its basis on the students«preconditions. The way of working should stimulate pupil«s responsibility, be problem-directed and goal-directed. The students should: -have knowledge about the goal and set of values of the school as well as goals and teaching methods concerning the activities which the compulsory comprehensive school co-operates with, -be able to work with pupil and parental organizations so that they together can develop the content and working methods of the school, -have knowledge about the computer society, the use of the computer and computer-aided instruction, -have knowledge about equality of opportunity issues and be conscious of their own attidudes and values.

CONTENTS
The control instruments of the school. The school as a social institution. To be a teacher. School as a working place. Aspects of equality of oppurtunity. Pupil and parental co-operation. Knowledge of teaching materials. Basic research methodolodgy and pedagogical work with development. Preparation of the degree project, reseach memo should be written. Computer society, the use of the computer, computer-aided instruction.

TEACHING
The course should be characterized of a problem- directed way of working and co-operation between the included subjects and teaching practice. A interdisciplinary project work and field studies are part of the course. The teaching practice is carried out in the first grade of the compulsory comprehensiv school.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on course literature, course assignments, literature seminars as well as on teaching practice, practice assignments and practice report. A research memo should be assessed.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
