PREREQUISITES
The general and course admission requirement for studies at the study programme for recreation instructor.

COURSE AIM
Students should have knowledge about: -curriculum theory, control systems, working out and function of the current control documents, -the growth of the scool- child care -environment and everyday of the day-center for school-age children and the meaning of the work as a recreation instructor, -pedagogical planning and evaluation, -basic social psychology and social perception, -theories about children«s development and the bases it places on the school-child care, -observations, approaches, aims and methods, -vocational secrecy, -ethics and morals, -the use of the computer and word processing, The student should be able to: -look for examles how control instruments control the activity at the day-centre for school-age children, -analyse experiences and observations that are made and discuss different ways to form the activity, -plan and carry out activities with indibidual children and children in groups.

CONTENTS
The course deals with: -theoretical and practical knowledge about the day-center for school-age children as a social institute, -the control of school-children care and the vocational role of the recreation instructor, -control documents for pre-school and school. The students should: -evaluate and take up a definite position concerning their vocational choice in the light of experiences of the complete working situation of the recreation instructor, -develop the ability to reflect, analyse and draw conclusions.

TEACHING
Theory, teaching practice and field studies are integrated in the course. Information about Teknikens hus, the library and knowledge how to use the library is given. The student will begin the work on individual work experience book, which will be continued during the education. A theme day about ethics is also part of the course.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on course assignments, course literature, literature seminars, teaching practice, practice assignments as well as on practice report. Examination of Development Psychology.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
