PREREQUISITES
The general and course admission requirement for studies at the study programme for pre-school teacher.

COURSE AIM
Students should have knowledge about: -which demands that are placed on the new study situation, -the activity at the University of Luleå, Teknikens hus, -learning and study techniques, -current control documents: the Social Services Act, pedagogical programme for the pre-school, municipal goals and guidelines, -content and work procedures for pre-school , pedagigical planning, -responsibilities issues and secrecy, -development psychology, theories about children«s development and the basis it places on the activity of the pre-school, -basic social psychology and social perception, -observations, basic approaches, different aims and methods, -moral and ethics -child care in the municipal organization, -trade unit issues, -educational teaching materials.

CONTENTS
The course deals with: -control documents, different forms of organizations and activities within the child care system and the vocational role of the pre-school teacher, -control documents for school and school-child care system. The students should work on and: -be conscious of their own role in the study situation, possibility to have some influence and their own responsibility, -develpop the ability to reflect, analyse and draw conclusions, -critical test their choice of study and themselves for their future vacational role.

TEACHING
Theory and field studies, followed by teaching practice in day-care centre. A theme day about ethics as well as information about the municipality of Luleå and Teknikens hus are part of the course.

EXAMINATION
The students will be graded on course assignements, teaching practice, practice assignments, practice report and literature seminars. Examination in Development Psychology.
COURSE GRADE SCALE: Fail, Pass.
