COURSE AIM
To get the student familiar with the foundations of modern optical measuring methods and to apply these methods in measurements in combination with computers. This course is identical to the second half of the course MTM033 in period IV.

CONTENTS
Period IV During the lessons, the following chapters in Gåsvik "Optical metrology" are treated. In connection to the lessons a series of experiments are shown, see the list below. Two invited lectures about fibre optics and optics construktion. Ch. Lessons: 5. Light sources and detectors 10. Digital Image processing 12. Some other optical metrology techniques. Appended papers: The computer as a measuring device Cases Analyses of data, IGOR Transmitters Demonstrations: 7. High speed cameras 8. The InfraRed (IR-)camera 9. Laser doppler anemometry Laboratory work, period III: The following four projects of 4 hours are performed. Mesurements are performed using microcomputers of PC - or MAC-type to collect, treat and present the data. E. Opto-transmitters (BIOPAC) F. Analyses of measured data (IGOR) G. MoireĞand image analyses (IMAGE) H. The heat camera and high speed video camera. A report is written for each project.
