PREREQUISITES


COURSE AIM
To give basic understanding of important processes in the paper and pulp industry.

CONTENTS
Cellulose and Paper Technology Wood structure and properties. Digestion and bleaching. Mechanical principles and equipment for production of wood chips, pulp digestion and bleaching. Controle principles for sulphate pulp production. Combustion processes for steam and lime kiln. Paper products, fibers and sheet structure. Grinding squeezing, drying. Mechanical properties, testing methods. The paper making machine-construction, machine element. Design of paperweb, dewatering and drying. Energy and exergy analyses, Sankey diagram. Energy balance in wet end, dry end, digester and boiler. Laboratory work and project work
