COURSE AIM
To give the student the ability to understand the foundations of hydraulics, types and principles of operation of components and their application, and apply these principles and methods to machine design.

CONTENTS
Flow of a fluid. Flow through pipes, orifices and narrow-gaps. Properties of hydraulic fluid. Viscosity, density and compressibility. Components. Pumps and motors, cylinders, valves, accumulators, filters ans seals. Hydraulic systems. Principles and methods of describe the behaviour of components and systmes. System Layout. Maintenance. Dynamic characteristics. Simple dynamic theory of hydrostatic systems. Pressure spikes.
