PREREQUISITES


COURSE AIM
To provide with the basic knowledge of computer based tools for geometric construction and design. Detailed knowledge about about the basic elements of computer graphics and geometric modelling is obtained by performing computer programming exercises.

CONTENTS
Computer graphics (50%) Computer graphics primitives: points, lines, text, inout-output logical functions. Window-Viewport transformation, 2D and 3D transformations, homogenous coordinates, 3D presentation, perspective transformation, colour and realism. Computer graphics programming exercises. Geometric modelling (45%) Parametric formulations of curves and surfaces, parametric-cubic formulations, splines, Bezier- and B-spline formulations. NURB formulation. Programming exercises with generation and visualisation of 3D curves and surfaces. Solid represented with CSG and boundary representation. Program systems for CAD (5%) Introduction to the use of computer systems for CAD. Computer aided design exercise with use of surface and solid representations.

TEACHING
The education consists of lectures, exercises and computer exercises. Participation in computer exercises are compulsory.

EXAMINATION
Fulfilled computer exercises and a written examination at the end of the course.
