COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to present the basic ideas of the Theory of Distributions, which are of particular impor tance for solving classes of important pro blems in Applied Mathematics and in Engineering Sciences.
CONTENTS
Basic theory for generalized functions The Heaviside function and Dirac«s deltafunc tions. Multiplication and differentiation of distributions. Convolution between, and li miting processes of, distributions.
Fourier series and Fourier transforms of distributions Periodic distributions and Fourier series. Fourier transforms of distri butions. Calculation rules. Physical and Technical intepretations.
Applications Solutions of Differential Equa-tions. Green«s method. Linear sys tems.
