PREREQUISITES
General eligibility from a 2/3 year upper secondary school course programme or equivalent qualifications.

COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to provide the students with increased proficiency in understanding spoken and written French as well as to improve their ability to speak and write relatively good French. Moreover, the course will provide some knowledge of the cultural and social conditions in France.

CONTENTS
Oral proficiency, 1.5 credits Writing proficiency, 3 credits Text reading, 1.5 credits Cultural studies, 1.5 credits

TEACHING
The greater part of the course consists of lessons where active participation is required. Lessons, group work and individual assignments.

EXAMINATION
Oral proficiency - individual pronunciation test and compulsory attendance for the oral exercises . Writing proficiency - submitted assignments and a written test. Text reading - continuous assessment in form of discussions where active participation is expected. Cultural studies - written test.
