COURSE AIM
The aim of the teaching is to provide a firm foundation for the practical usage of German in both speech and writing, some knowledge of the literature and the cultural, political and social conditions of the German-speaking countries of today. The course consists of grammar, literature and cultural studies.

CONTENTS
Module 1. German grammar, 3 credits Module 2. Written proficiency, 3 credits Module 3. Oral training and cultural studies, 4.5 credits Module 4. German literature and non-fiction, 4.5 credits

TEACHING


EXAMINATION
Module 2. Written test at the end of the term with a monolingual grammar test and translation to and from German (4.5 credits). Module 3. Written test in phonetics (1.5 credits), oral presentation of individual assignments in German in class (1.5 credits), which will also be submitted in written form (1.5 credits), circa 10 pages. Module 4. Continuous assessment of participation in the literary seminars (2 credits) and a written report related to the course material (1.5 credits). All tests will be graded as above. To receive Pass with Distinction for the entire course the students are required to have Pass with Distinction for at least 10.5 credits. Students that do not pass the tests will have the opportunity to take a resit. The students that pass the tests can not resit them to obtain higher grades. Attendance of the seminars is compulsory in the modules that do not end with a written test.
