French A, 30 credits.

COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to improve the language skills of the students. The course should provide some knowledge of French literature from the 17th century as well as an overview of the history of the French language. The course should also provide broader knowledge of modern French society.

CONTENTS
Module 1. Written proficiency (7.5 credits) Module 2. Oral presentations (4.5 credits) Module 3. French literature and the history of literature (12 credits) Module 4. Further grammar studies (3 credits) Module 5. The development of the French language (3 credits)

TEACHING


EXAMINATION
Module 1. Written test in translation from Swedish into French (4.5 credits) as well as individual assignments (3 credits). Module 2. Active participation and oral presentations (4.5 credits). Module 3. Active participation is required as is completion of the oral and written assignments ( 12 credits). Module 4. Active participation is required as is completion of the oral and written assignments (3 credits). Module 5. Written test (3 credits). Students who do not pass the ordinary tests will have the opportunity to take a resit. All tests will be graded as above. To receive Pass with Distinction for the course the students are required to have Pass with Distinction for at least 15 credits, which should include the translation test. The students that pass the tests can not resit them to obtain higher grades.
