COURSE AIM
The course will be given as a preparation course for those attending the programme for European engineers that is taking place in SaarbrŸcken, Germany. The aim is to provide the beginners with a basic knowledge of German grammar, both morphology and syntax. At the same time provide them with a basic vocabulary of words and phrases. The students should be able to manage linguistic materials in an active way both orally and in writing in simple everyday situations. The course should also provide knowledge of the cultural, political, social and economic conditions in Germany.

CONTENTS
The course is not divided in different modules, so pronunciation, grammar, oral and written skills are integrated in teaching materials for beginners.

TEACHING
The greater part of the teaching consists of classes where active participation is required. There will also be various pair and group exercises.

EXAMINATION
The course is assessed continuously through active participation in the writing and speech classes. Written test divided into several parts with a grammar test and translation from and into German. The course will be graded as above. The students that pass the tests can not resit them to obtain higher grades.
