COURSE AIM
AIM OF COURSE - To offer students of social science a way to conclude their education where technincal, economical as well as social aspects in different types of social planning and research work is observed and united. Course A: - To give an understanding of interaction between economic developement in a national and regional context and the infrastructure of society. - To give a basic knowledge about the develope ment of social planning. - To give the student knowledge about regional prognosis. Course B: - To describe how todays society with its technical systems works as well as to give an insight into how the society of the future could function based upon recycling. - To give an understanding of the methods and assesments that are used in the planning and shaping of housing and traffic systems.

CONTENTS
CONTENTS Course A: Economic and Social Development, Infrastructure and Planning - Introduction: Social planning yesterday and today. - Economic developement, infrastructure and enviorenment. - Basic knowledge in regional events, demographic developement and migration. - Independent report. Course B: Physical Planning - Theory and Method - Summary planning. - Town housings history. Housing forms and ground utilization. - Planning problems and service. - Landscape architecture. Traffic and technical maintenance. - Awareness of natural cycles in future society. - The shape and layout of the traffic system considering environmental effects, trafficableness and traffic safety. - The conditions of housing planning. Relationship to climate and nature.

EXAMINATION
Seminars, written exams, oral presentations and written reports. Oral and written assignments. Grading system: Fail, Pass or Honours.
