COURSE AIM
The aim of the course is to give the student - deeper knowledge in the area of data technics - deeper knowledge of and skills in file management, data base systems and data communication in an information system

CONTENTS
The course divides in two parts: Part 1 ( 9 credits) Data communication in an information system deals with - a number of various aspects on data transmission in computer networks - methods, technics, different standards including the reference model OSI - local area network and public data network - TCP/IP - MHS - EDI - data security in the area of data communication Part 2 (6 credits) File management systems and data bases deals with - file management - the construction and functioning of the object oriented data bases - SQL - transaction handling and cuncurrency problems

TEACHING
Teaching will take the form of lessons/lectures and laboratory work.

EXAMINATION
Examination will be in the form of written examination and required assignments.
