COURSE AIM
The course gives the student the ability to make an economic evaluation of a mineralisation.
CONTENTS
Market analysis: What is the market for the products? What threats are there? Would other products be more profitable on the market? Income - cost calculation.
Ore reserve evaluation: Methods to use. Grade - tonnage curves. Geological ore reserve. Ore body modelling.
Mining, mineral processing and concentrate transportation: Techniques and costs. Ore losses and waste dilution. Production volumes. Cut-off-grade. Smelting costs.
Economic evaluation: Cash flow analysis. Net present value. Risk and sensibility analyses.
Financing of mining projects.
Visit to a mining company, to learn how the principles of mine planning are applied in practice and to study the company«s hardware and software.
TEACHING
The teaching includes classroom lectures and exercises and project work. A study visit is arranged to a mining company.
EXAMINATION
Written test with differentiated grades. Project assignment require the grade Passed.
