PREREQUISITES
Basic qualifications.

COURSE AIM
The course provides basic knowledge in general chemistry, together with associated applications as cement chemistry and corrosion.

CONTENTS
Some fundamental concepts of chemistry. Chemical reactions and stoichiometric calculations. Basic concepts concerning the electronic structure of the atom. Chemical bonding and intermolecular forces. Chemical equilibria and basic thermodynamics. Corrosion. Cement chemistry.

TEACHING
The instruction consists of lectures, lessons, project work and compulsatory laboratory classes.

EXAMINATION
A written examination which is graded and passed laboratory reports. Approved laborations and a written exam with differentiated grades.
