PREREQUISITES

COURSE AIM
The objective of this course is to give basic knowledge about project planning and practical experiences of project work, to present interesting research projects and to give an introduction to some courses at higher levels.

CONTENTS
This course contains of three parts; theory, project work and educational study visits. Theory Analysis of mechanisms. Design of mechanisms. Introduction to the project work; project planning, design methods, methods for analysis, product planning etc. Basic word-processing. Projects In groups of six persons projects will be carried out. The task is to design a mechanism for a certain application. Systematic design, computer aided analysis and production simulation will be practised within the projects. Study visits - 2x4 hours will be spent on a visit at the departments of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science - approx. 4 hours will be spent of a visit to an industry in Luleå or its neighbourhood.

TEACHING

EXAMINATION
The theoretical part will be examed with written reports and the project work will be examed through both written reports and seminars. At the study vistis attendance is compulsory.
