PREREQUISITES
Mathematical Statistics according to any one of IEK001, IEK003, IEK005, IEK007, IEK010, IEK011 or IEK020 or corresponding course.

COURSE AIM
Ą to illustrate how an active, systematic, and preventive work for quality improvements shall be carried on in companies, organisations, and in public administration; Ą to provide knowledge of modern values, techniques, and methods in the continuous work for higher quality; Ą to illustrate quality programmes in different organisations.

CONTENTS
The quality concept, quality strategies and the development of quality philosophy. Design quality, production quality, service quality, and leadership for quality are discussed.

COURSE LITTERATURE
Bergman, B & Klefsjö, B (1995). Kvalitet från behov till användning, Andra upplagan, Studentlitteratur. (An English book with similar contents is also possible to use.) Extracts from ISO9000 and the Swedish Quality Award. Articles and other complementary material and a collection of exercises compiled by the Division of quality technology and statistics. Additional literature may be added.
